Favourite Design
Based on the feedback I received from others on my initial mock-ups for the invite, I have come up with a little version of what the final design will look like.
- This is the envelope. It will feature a custom stamp next to the 1st class stamp. The black dotted line represents where it will be stitched. The mcd logo will appear in gold foil on the bottom corner. The envelope is perforated, so you just rip it open down the side. The address will be hand written on - all these things adding to the crafting style.
[size a5]
- You then open the envelope and on a piece of texture scalloped card (with nothing printed on to it), there is a little package, wrapped in a pink ribbon (because this will match the colours of the contents)
- At the front of the package, printed on to brown card, is the actual invite, which you take with you to the event. There is a little perforated bit, which gets ripped off when you enter. You don't see this when all the bits are together, as it is folded behind.
- When you open it up, you find 8 mini cards, printed on to cotton. Each of them features a different textured background, to represent the styles of art and craft available at the design centre.

Print Finishes
I want to add a luxurious touch to my invites, so I've been playing about with print finishes to work out what would work best with the colour scheme and theme I am going with.
While I do like how the spot varnish on the black looks, I think the gold on the brown paper looks quite good, so I'm going to use subtle touches of foil to add a bit of luxury to the invite.
Stock Choices
Originally I was just going to use black card, but I've realised how important the stock is, especially if I'm going with an organic theme. The photographs don't do them justice but here are a selection of stocks that I could possibly print on, some of them being high quality fedrigoni ones. I'm going to use one of the thick ones with texture to hold the actual card invite.

Laser cutting on to wood was a potential idea although I have to consider practically and I don't think this would sent through the post very well although it could look quite good.
This is the brown card I have chosen to use for the envelope outside. It is thicker and a better quality that the brown roll, and doesn't have the lines on it.
The brown card will be used for the actual ticket with will wrap around the cotton cloth cards.
