These are the posters that will be placed around manchester to advertise the centre so it gets some more attention. They would also be placed in local papers and tourist information places to get attention from visitors to manchester. I am going to mock them up in context when I'm done.
These designs are quite simplistic and mainly based on the museum branding I have looked at. I was especially inspired by Joe Gilmore's work after his visit on Friday. www.qubik.com [see blog post]
And so this has influenced this poster design, which is typographically based. This is something I wanted to achieve in my design practice so I'm happy with the way this is going.
The information I need to include on the poster is:
- logo - address - website - address - email - opening times - and what it is
After looking at existing posters, especially the ones available for Manchester art gallery, I noticed that I need to include information such as copyright and the sponsors logo. So I found this information from www.craftanddesign.com about the sponsors.

Here is the development of the poster design, using the wood texture to begin with, as I thought the text would be really easy to read on this. With each poster I've realised a bit more information that needs to be included! These designs need to work small, such as in a magazine, as well as printed off to a larger size to be placed in a window of a tourist office etc...
This is the final design. Finally got the arrangement of the different elements right, and I feel really happy with this poster. It looks really professional and think makes the improvement in my work through this module obvious.
I've tried the same design with the purple colour text and the other textures. Some work a lot better than others.
I have used photoshop to edit the colours of the texture scans to make them all kind of work in together, such as making everything a bit pink. Some of them work smaller but would be a bit boring a3 size, such as the one with the kraft paper.
So I'm going to print and photograph the paint one, the black board one, and the wood one.
