DP3/ Brief 3/ Design Development/ Type Tutorial 4.

http://mos.futurenet.com/pdf/computerarts/CAP137_tut_illotype.pdf

I found this tutorial quite hard and while it was fun to do, I haven't really learnt that much because I don't think the style is totally relevant to what I am going for.

I started off by choosing an existing font, then turning to outlines, then drawing over it adding my own touches.

As you can see I've made each letter have little curly flicks on it. I didn't want to spend the recommended 4 hours on this tutorial so as you can see its a bit messy!

I then tried to neaten the font up a bit and added a gradient, and tried a white gradient to add highlights to the text.

This is the final outcome of this tutorial. I don't think the outcome looks great but as always its great to experiment with new styles of design, and it has got me thinking about how I can alter existing typefaces, I don't just have to use it the way it came.
