These are just design experiments, not the final pieces.

The really simple style of illustration and a focus on type with a limited colour scheme has been inspired by these invites, something that I found right at the start of the project which helped me to decide what direction I wanted to go in:
Cutlery sticky labels
These are for sealing the paper bags containing the cutlery set. There are four, as the picnic is for four people, and there is one for each attendant at the Mad Hatters Tea Party: Alice; the Dormouse; the March Hare and the Hatter himself.
I'm not sure whether to keep these simple, with just the name, or to add some sort of illustration or pattern. I've decided they will have be in a rounded rectangle box rather than a equal rectangle one as it looked a bit too blunt. Here I've played around with colour and layout and added my imagery and tried adding quotes.
I've kept looking back at the packaging I have put on my design context blog to help me decide where to put things, to make sophisticated and realistic packaging.
This is what I have decided to go with, four equal squares. I really like the images being subtle and white, allowing the text to go over them, so I will carry this on with the rest of my packaging to ensure everything matches.
Stickers
I will be using the card symbols as stickers to seal the products.
Marmalade Label & Top
I looked at the actual marmalade wrapper from the jar I bought to help me decide what information to include then made the design match in with the cutlery stickers.
(decided just to place sticker on top rather than designing separate top)
Drink Me Label
Lots of experimentation, trying to get the quote and the information in the right place. There seems like quite a lot to put in a small section.
A lot harder to change the layout of text that I have to set myself than just altering the text box as you usually would do. Feel like I've spent most of the project setting the text and arranging it manually. Wish I knew how to make my font in to a real one, this is something I will have to teach myself over summer.
Drink Me Tag
Have changed the colours to make it match in with everything else.
Bread Label
Tea Bag Labels
Menu
Stuck on whether I should add colour to the image all over or in places, so I asked a few friends and decided in the end that no colour should be used in the illustrations as it makes it look childish. The colour should be kept for the text.
To add an extra touch to the final packaging, could use appropriate coloured tissue paper to stuff the inside of the box and ribbon to decorate/tie?
I decided not to make the flask wrapper and patterned bell band that I had originally proposed as I felt they were not necessary and I was just creating more packaging for the sake of covering more!
