I've been playing about with some styles of hand drawn typography to help me decide what style to create my quotes in. Its important the cards work as a set.
The styles have been inspired by fonts I like [see blog post], designers I have looked at and examples of hand drawn typography.
The style of typography needs to represent the theme of fun, unique and commercial. I've tried using bolder text and capitals but I think this seems too serious, and too decorative and elegant letters look traditional and wouldn't suit the target audience.
I like the playful approach of the words being made up of a mixture of capitals and lowercase letters, which are different sizes, and different fonts. I have tried adding some ornamental features, such as dots and dashes to these letters to make them more interesting. While the type should look interesting and girly, it still needs to be legible, so I need to keep taking a step back to see if it works as it should.
