Here I've started to apply the icons to the nets of the products I intend to place them on. It was difficult at first trying to get the colour scheme right, as I tried to use RGB colours to make the colour scheme more relevant to the project. However, as the project is for print, I had set the document up as CMYK one, so this changed the RGB colours to duller versions. eg:
I tried applying these colours to the icons in various ways, but it just doesn't look right, so I'm sticking with the original colour theme that I came up with after asking people about which colours made them think of the internet.
- theres no way these colours are going to look good together!!!-
_____________
Here are just a few ideas of how I can apply the icons and colour scheme, along with the pixel typeface, to the products. I'm going to keep playing around, and ask for feedback on my progress, and the content.
I don't think the black works at all with the other colours and it looks too harsh.
I think the bright blue is too Cyan and while this is about design for the internet I don't think that would work.
I need to be careful about using pastels as it looks a bit too feminine so I'd be excluding the audience.
The icons need to be large enough to be clear what they are and positioned in a place so they make sense when next to the pun.

Where I'm up to for now, sure it will change. Not sure if the icons should be centred and clear or coming off the net like I've done here. Also I've added a shadow to the arrow, don't know whether this style works or not.
I'm going to get some feedback on my design direction idea and then start designing the rest of the products.
