As mentioned previously, a mandatory requirement of this brief is to brand the range of cards I will create. This isn't a massively important part of this brief, so I don't want to spend too long on it, as I want to focus on the actual card design.
I've looked at the logos of other card retailers and manufacturers and notice a hand writing style in a lot of them. Most cards are bought by women, and so I want my logo to appeal to a female audience. I have decided that my logo will follow on in this style, so I've started out by drawing some ideas on illustrator using my graphics tablet. This is also relevant to the designs of the card, which will include hand drawn typography, as this is a specific part of the brief.
Card Range - Hoopla Fete
I decided on this name after searching for lots of different definitions of what celebrating is about. I also wanted something that would stand out.
I think having both words hand written looks a bit scruffy, so I'll focus on just the initials.
In the end I've decided just to call it Hoopla Cards. The use of a love heart makes the cards girly and this is important as females are the target audience.
This one was my favourite logo, so I want to play about with how thick it should be and if any effect should be used on it.
I have neatened up the lines to reach this stage, and also tried what it looks like a bit thicker.
Here is the final logo. I've used the font The Only Exception underneath to write the name of the company. I think this font works really well with my hand drawn logo, and will be good to apply to the packaging of the products. I've applied a subtle drop shadow and all in all I'm happy with this logo and think it is suitable for its purpose.
