Brief 1 / Print Finishes

Previously for brief 3 I had experimented with print finishes --> see blog post --> Brief 3 - Print Finish Experiments

This time, as its a hand drawn typography brief I wanted the print finishes to match this style, so have been playing about with adding my own foiling and spot varnish. I've done this with a glue pen so you get really good precision in writing. I'm going to choose a colour scheme for this range to stick with, and get foils in this colour. It would also be good to apply a print finish to my logo which has to appear on each card.

I've also used the glue to fill in with glitter. I was a bit worried about this looking too crafty, as I want the cards to look like luxury designer cards which could be sold for a high price, rather than looking childish. But, through my research I've found examples of cards that use glitter and still look classy, and especially with the precision of the pen, when I tried this I think it worked well.

I don't want to use too many effects at once in my cards but I will try some more print finishes.

Other finishes to try:
- glitter glue
- scalloped edges
- laser cut
- shape punches
