Here are some quick experiments of drawings from my collection of flower drawings. I want to decide how I will draw my 2d drawings of the secret garden. My options include:
- fine writer - watercolour - coloured pencil
Fine writer drawings are always good for getting detail, however, using coloured fine writers generally looks tacky, and it is important I get the colour across.
I really like the style of the watercolour flowers and how the colour appears, but I think more detail is needed.
I think the coloured pencil looks a bit too childish for what I am aiming to create.
- vector illustrations
This was just a quick example, but I feel as if I am bored of vector illustrations and want to try something different while I have the chance, and while this is an image module, I think it would be good to choose a method I don't get to use that often.
- ink drawings
I like this effect but it is quite difficult and would be very time consuming to add detail, also, I don't have coloured inks available to me.
Or maybe a mix of the few in one, or a few different methods?
I've decided for the 2d drawings that watercolours will be a good way to get the colour across, as colour is a very important aspect of the secret garden, and the fine writer can be used to add detail.
I've been doing research in to paper craft artists to help me decide how I will create the 3d models. I've made flat paper craft images before, but I haven't made models.
