Here are some of my initial design ideas which I will mock up for Monday, then me and Chloe can decide which design direction we will go in, as we are both working individually for the rest of the week to come up with some more ideas and do some more research. These are just some initial methods of delivery to initially cover, as we progress we would like to cover more unusual areas and to cover our campaign from as many different sides as possible.
Logo to Use
Logo to Use
This is the Peacocks logo as provided in the YCN download back. The black background and blue colour obviously bring with it a lot of limitations, so to make sure our designs aren't ruined by this logo, we are going to try reversing out the colours, as is done on some of Peacocks branding.
Label
- Peacocks logo laser cut on to tracing paper, overlaying a printed label on white card, with a ribbon and a bead for a unique touch
- Could add a fun, younger touch by including quotes of things such as "you're gorgeous..." etc.

Poster

Here are some initial poster designs, with the 'We're Back' theme, with the suggested re-launch coinciding with the summer 2012 Pearl Lowe collection.

Here are some initial poster designs, with the 'We're Back' theme, with the suggested re-launch coinciding with the summer 2012 Pearl Lowe collection.
- fun, summer themed, colourful poster, aimed at younger audience
- type based
- inspired by topshop designs such as:

- and Urban Outfitters designs such as:

A totally different approach after finding these Neville Brody adverts:
- simplistic poster, sans serf typeface to match the logo
- stylish but classy to attract both younger and older audience
- type needs a lot more work on it, think logo should be smaller
3//
- more focus on type and layout
- sans serif type to contrast the logo and show what we are trying to represent about Pearl Lowe's range being sophisticated
- keeping with the Peacocks logo colour scheme
- looks more professional, and more luxurious
4//
- different shaped poster
- focus on images
- I think the poster's need more information on them, such as website etc..
5//
- poster as invite to re-launch party
- features pearl lowe
- reversed out logo
- trying to work with negative space but there is too much here
These designs were just quick examples, but I'm not really happy with any of them yet!

What are we trying to represent about Peacocks?
I was beginning to feel a bit stuck as I made some poster designs, as while I knew what I needed to create, I was a bit worried the style wasn't really relevant to what we are trying to communicate to our audience. So to make myself sure of what I was trying to do, I wrote down a list of things we are trying to communicate and some key words to help my future designs.
- It's back
- Aimed at a young, fashionable audience
- High quality, low prices
- Everyone should be talking about it
- Stylish, elegant, luxurious pieces
- Modern take of vintage
- B&W photography, soft colours delicate
- Makes you feel beautiful
- High fashion
- Different from other clothes shops
I also researched Pearl Lowe's website and her range [see post], and found out more about her style which matches the kind of style I think we should put forward about Peacocks.
Me and Chloe have decided that we will focus on promoting a re-launch event for Peacocks for Summer 2012, with the emphasis being on a new range from Pearl and Daisy Lowe. So initially we need to create mail shots, invites and posters to advertise this event. Then we can move on to creating the bags and labels and re-designing the website and other factors.

I think we need to decide on a colour palette that we will stick to and research the type of design we are inspired by.

- quick poster design inspired by vintage look of clothes and my research
- edited images on photoshop to make colours look more vintage
- image of daisy and pearl appeals to both the younger audience and mothers who will be buying for themselves and their daughters
- i don't really like this poster design, but with more development it could work
- want to mix this vintage style with the sophisticated style of Neville Brody's adverts
After creating these designs, I spoke with Chloe to discuss what style to decide on. [see post]
