YCN... Window Display

Peacocks Shop Store Front Examples

I took the photograph on the right of the Peacocks store in the Merrion centre, but unfortunately, every other Peacocks store I know of has closed down! So I've had a good search of the internet to find some more examples of Peacocks store fronts.

Starting with this image of a Peacocks store, I have traced around it in Illustrator so that we can put our window display mock ups in the windows to get a better idea of how it would look. From my research, basically all the Peacocks stores windows didn't have examples of the clothes in them, just posters always saying there was a sale on. So we really need to work on a creative window display that will make Peacocks seem less like a jumble sale and more like a fashionable place to shop.

The example of the Peacocks store with the banner without the black background looks so much better than those with the black background; I don't know why they didn't use this for everyone! The old logo looks even worse when compared with the new one.

What could be in the window display?

Quick mock - up ideas

I think the window display needs to be more than just a poster, but I need to be careful as this is a graphic design brief not a fashion one! The first idea is inspired by the Topshop lights ideas, and then I have drawn massive coat hangers and massive labels to advertise the Pearl Lowe range. I like the lights idea but this is obviously too similar to Topshop, so I would need to think of a way I could make these letters exciting with an individual idea. The second idea would feature giant letters reading "we're back" - I'm not sure of the font choice yet this decides which theme we decide to go with. In the back would be a poster advertising Pearl Lowe's range. There would also be a mannequin featuring one of the dresses.

This idea for a poster for a window display is based on one of the posters I created, but I've re-arranged it to be a different size to fit in the window. This poster design was inspired by Topshop and Urban Outfitters adverts, that are colourful, modern and appeal to a younger audience.

As I've been wanting to do something a bit image based just for a change, I've created this poster quickly. I've traced around some of the Pearl Lowe dressed on illustrator and made coat hangers, and arranged them on to this display. This is inspired by one of the window displays I found where the clothes were shown through illustrations rather than photographs.

Here I have placed my design in to the window. I think this is going a bit too image based though!

This was just a quick experiment, but I don't think it works with the type of style we are trying to communicate, so I won't take it any further.

------

In my website design, after changing the logo so that it is black only, on a white background, I think that I should also change the logo in this window display mock up, so that everything matches.

I'm feeling a bit stuck with this, so I'm going to wait until Chloe has designed the mail shot and the poster until I continue, as I want it to link in, but at the moment this seems like a completely different style from everything else.

As well as considering mocking up our poster in store fronts, we could consider billboards, bus stops, back of buses....
