This sequence that I will create in after effects will hopefully look exactly like the storyboard, and the timings I have placed on the storyboard should really help this.
I have realised that making this one might not be as simple as making the others as I need to edit the anchor points, but luckily I have covered this in one of the earlier after effects workshops.
Remembering how do to this was quite hard, but I got there in the end! I had to create the text in illustrator, then change it to outlines, then paste this on to a new solid layer in after effects that was the size as the composition. This makes lots of masks which can be edited.
It was not working how I wanted it to so I tried doing each letter individually; I know this is probably really simple but I'm finding it hard so might have to change idea.
I think i have got round it now, adding each letter individually seemed to work, and I have begun to stretch the parts of the letters, exactly as planned in the storyboard.
Getting the t to grow upwards as well as be stretched was proving quite difficult. I know there was probably an easier way around, but I resulted in creating a text layer t, putting it in the same place as the outline t, and then turning the illustrator file in to the after effects one. This means I could stretch the scale of the text t and then drag the anchors for the outline mask t.
I was getting the hang of editing the letters as planned, but this one was more difficult as I was editing two letters -extending their joints at the same time.
I had a problem making the h expand, had to finish the rest then go back to it.
I got the sequence to finish at about 4.5 seconds so wanted to add something extra at this point. I tried a few different things, but as there was already so much going on in the sequence nothing looked right, so in the end, I decided just to add this small piece of movement to the r to take it up to 5 seconds.
So, I thought I was finished then I realised that there was no black on it, and the brief said black, white and one other colour.. so I added a black border that I made on photoshop.
Wow, I can't believe how much time I have spent making a five second clip, but here we are:
