Image... Book Works

Brief

To create an edition of five books based on one of the following: a colour, a sound, a typeface or a shape. You must explore all areas before selecting a subject matter. Consider how making five books will effect the reproduction. The books are to be sold for either £5 or £10 at the Contemporary Artists Book Fair on the 9th and 10th March at Leeds University.

Books to be created for 1st March.

- Based on the idea that orange can make you hungry

Development

Most of my ideas which I like seem to be for shapes, so I think I will have a go drawing out some of my ideas before choosing which one to go with. Seeing as we have a bit longer with this brief, I want to go further than I have with previous briefs and make sure I take care with presentation as this is something that usually lets me down. I'd like to think about screen printing my designs or using book binding processes I have learnt previously.

After drawing out my favourite idea of creating animals with a shaped body, I feel really stuck as I don't think it has worked as well as I imagined, and I just don't feel excited by it or know how it could sell a book. I think this idea is really childish and won't work how I wanted it to. Even though I researched all of my ideas which I was initially excited by, I now don't have a clue in which direction to go, so I hope I can find some inspiration relating to one of the themes the book has to be about soon so I don't get too far behind as I feel this has been a bit of a wasted week!
