2. This second ident is based on my storyboard inspired by the intro to Russell Howard's Good News.
I started by using the gingham patterned background I created previously. I also previously created these scalloped edged shapes on illustrator for my design direction boards.
I have used the parent/ child relationship to make sure that the text moves with the scalloped shapes they are in. This is such a handy tool that has saved me lots of time.
I have used a grain distort effect, which I think looks like glitter, relating to the girly cupcake theme. I played around with the different effects for quite a while, but in the end, decided not to use any other than this and the colour animating ones, as I felt like using a pre-made effect would be a bit like cheating, and wouldn't be giving me the chance to demonstrate what I have learnt.
Here's where I was up to to show in my crit.
As the other backgrounds to all my idents are pink, I think I should re-do the gingham in pink so that the idents work as a set. The purple is a bit too much and quite distracting, and the background should probably have a low opacity. I think I need to re-work this ident when I have time, as it just seems a bit crazy with lots going on. Especially after looking at others idents in the crits, I have realised I don't need to include every effect there is in my ten second ident!
Pink gingham definitely looks better but is just the first step, I need to make sure everything follows the same colour scheme for my improved ident.
The glitter effect doesn't work on the pink background, and anyway, I think its a little too much.
I have to change the above, to look something like the below, so that all of the ends of the idents can be the same.
While the organisation looks better, the text is unreadable.
Pink is easier to read, and I've lowered the opacity of the background a little.
I am making the layers come in with low opacity rather than just appearing.
Rather than the scalloped circle going on a complicated journey to reach its destination I want to change this...
I have used the parent layer to make sure my text stays in its boxes.
I have added subtle colour change effect, which I learnt in an after effects workshop. I think this works better than using an effect. I also changed how the boxes leave the screen so that the end can be the same as the others. I think it looks so much better now that it originally did!
